Royal Rangers

Royal Rangers is a vital ministry for boys ages 5-17. Our goal is to instruct, challenge, and inspire boys in the areas of Bible, Christian service, moral conduct, church, outdoor skills, campouts, and to always do their best. The boys are challenged in these areas through weekly meetings, day activities, and campouts. Our Royal Rangers program is under the leadership of Billy Grimsley and Mike Donitzen. The Rangers (Outpost 232) meet every Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the church. If you know of a young man who would benefit from being a part of the Royal Rangers, we invite you to call the church office at 540-433-8687 and leave a message for Billy or Mike.

Teaching, Reaching and Keeping Boys for Christ

Royal Rangers: A Ministry for Boys of All Ages

  • Ranger Kids: K - 2nd grade
  • Discovery Rangers: 3rd - 5th
  • Adventure Rangers: 6th - 8th
  • Exhibition Rangers: 9th - 12th

First Assembly of Harrisonburg has had this dynamic boys' ministry for many years. "Teaching, Reaching and Keeping Boys for Christ" is the Royal Ranger mission statement and it is a powerful tool for ministering to future leaders in the Assemblies of God. The boys study the Bible, learn verses, learn practical skills such as knife safety, knots, tent and camping skills, and much more. The boys make pinewood derby cars and race them at the annual Pinewood Derby in Fredericksburg, VA. They also look forward to the regional POW WOW, during which they camp for several days with over 200 Royal Rangers from the Potomac District. During this time, the boys demonstrate the skills they have learned over the past year and get the opportunity to present skits and share with other Outposts the way the Lord has been working with them.
